The Doll is an essential item introduced in Spooky's Dollhouse, the second DLC for Spooky's Jump Scare Mansion, with important implications on the game's narrative, progress, and the nature of Spooky.

Appearance[]

The Doll has long, dull brown hair, blue eyes, lacks pupils, and has very pale "skin". She wears a purple dress that has a crying eye symbol on the chest. She also appears to lack legs, and the part of the dress where legs would be sticking out has a red tint, possibly implying blood.

Gameplay[]

The Doll is first seen in the very first room of the dollhouse, where she can be picked up. The Doll serves as the only way to heal in the dollhouse, as the air prevents the player from naturally regenerating health. The amount of health healed through each usage of the doll is small, and there are limitations on how the doll can be used to heal the player, unlike natural regeneration.

The doll has a "state of charge" which can be viewed in the Tea Room and her facial expressions. If the player uses the Doll too much, she will begin to cry and, if used up completely, she will cover her eyes and can no longer be used for healing. Moreover, in this state of complete discharge, Frenzy will spawn in some rooms, which will impede your sight and further drain your health. The Tea Room allows the doll to be recharged back.

Occasionally, the player will come across pedestals that they can put the Doll on. These pedestals are used to open doors or to activate the Electric Barrier in the Great Hall.

In the Great Hall, by entering the furnace room before the door closes and picking up the healing doll, the doll can be then put into the furnace to be burnt, changing its texture. The resulting text box from this still mentions the doll hands that can be put here to get the keys, and the player is completely soft-locked and cannot progress further. This is not present in HD Renovation.

Finally, the Doll is used to break the Spirit Seal, which will send the player to the Nightmare Sequence. From there on, the mansion will undergo the self-destruction sequence as this action is irreversible.

Trivia[]

  • The Doll cries when in the presence of either Spooky or Monica's grave.
  • The Doll will cover its eyes in two locations without being in a low mood: the CLOWN room and when in the Root Cellar while Hooked Doll is active.
    • It will be on low mood when picked up from the ground in the GL Labs subterranean area after coming back from the Root Cellar.

Appearance[]

The Doll is now given a full 3D model. The Doll itself is also now affected by nearby lighting, which removes its oddly darkened appearance shown in the original version.

Trivia[]

  • The doll does not cry in the HD Renovation.
  • The Doll will cover its eyes in two locations without being in a low mood: The Garden, and the CLOWN room.
    • It will be in a low mood when picked up from the ground in the GL Labs Subterranean area after coming back from the Root Cellar.
  • When using the doll to break the spirit seal, it will move to the center of the screen and sit down before fading away, however if the doll is on low mood, it won't sit down remaining in the pose it was originally.
